If you want to have birds in your yard this winter, there are probably a couple of things you need to be doing. Sure, a few birds will stop by now and then in most of our yards. But in order to get the color, and the variety of avian feathered friends at your doorstep, it's important to provide them with a little (or a lot, depending on your preferences...and budget!) of bird food. Along the same lines, but maybe even more important, is the water. It's almost impossible to keep them coming back for more unless you also have a watering hole. In the freezing temps, a heated birdbath is a must. Read my blog post for a bit more on this at
State-by-State Gardening's 'Virginia Gardener Magazine' online "Winter is for the Birds'.
And please stop by
my last post at Thanks For Today (before midnight tonight, EST) and leave a comment to be eligible to win a set of greeting/notecards that I'm giving away for my 3rd 'blogoversary'. Without all of you, my reading friends and blogging pals, I most likely would not still be writing after three years! So thank you for your support and your visits. I'm looking forward to the next three! Happy New Year;-)
Today I'm thankful for a new year and the promises and possibilities that lie ahead.
