--Today I am thankful for so many varieties and colors of flowers and blooms!
P.S. Scientific/Botanical names of (some) of the above:
Dwarf Bee Balm: Monarda 'Petite Delight': Pinkish-lavender flowers. Mildew resistant. Spicy-sweet scent. Young leaves can be used in tea. Sun to partial shade. Blooms early to mid-summer. Zones 3-8.
Tickseed: Coreopsis grandiflora 'Rising Sun': Double yellow/gold flowers have fringed petal w/mahagony center. Blooms late spring to early fall. Full sun. Zones 4-9.
Coneflower: Echinacea 'Coconut Lime': Double white flowers with pale-green center. Dry or moist conditions. Blooms in summer. Full sun. Zones 5-10.
Lavender: Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote': Deep purple fragrant flowers. Evergreen silver foliage. Used in potpourri and sachets, dried flower arrangements, low-growing hedge. Versatile. Full sun. Blooms mid-summer to early fall. Zones 5-9.
Salvia: (Mystic Spires Blue): Salvia longispicata x farinacea 'Balsalmist'. Deep blue flowers with long spikes. Sun to part shade. Blooms late spring to fall. Zones 7-10.
Day Lily: Hemerocallis 'Stella De 'Oro': Yellow/gold trumpet flower. Blooms early summer to mid-fall. Full sun to partial shade. Zones 2-9. (*Shunned by lily connoisseurs). Also, pinkish daylily (do not know name!).
Rose: Flower Carpet rose, 'Pink Supreme' Hot pink flowers. Disease resistant. Low maintenance ground cover. Full sun to partial shade. Versatile. Dry or moist environments. Mid-spring to fall. Zones 5-10. (*Shunned by rose connoisseurs!). Oh well;-) Also, Red carpet roses purchased accidentally are mixed in a couple of areas.
