Its after 12:30 AM on October
15th 16th, and I am late (again) for Garden Bloggers Bloom Day. I have a lot of blooms to post but I've been busy with my 12 year old son, as he stayed home from school with a fever the last few days. He is ok now, and he doesn't have the flu, as I took him to the doctor to make sure. In fact--he and I both were able to get our H1N1 vaccinations!
We stood in line for 3 hours to get it. So many young children have died-and I've tried not to worry about it-but as every parent knows, it has been (and remains) a concern.
I also got delayed because I was watching the mylar balloon saga play out in Colorado. It was literally a breath-holding couple of hours, with
a little 6 year old boy NO ONE on board. Did any of you watch that
today yesterday? Of course, that just kept me from finishing my post!
Anyway,
tomorrow later today, after I get some sleep (it's after midnight now) I'll finish my October GBBD post. See ya then!
--Today I am thankful for more blooms than I have time to post;-)
Words and photos by Jan Huston DobleThanks For 2 Day.
Jan, Life has a way of getting in the way of best laid plans. Glad to hear your son is better. Hope you manage to stay well too!
ReplyDeleteHi Jan.
ReplyDeleteYes I heard it on TV about the boy that has disappered. But it ended fortunately well.
Beautiful shots of the flowers as always.
Have a great weekend
Gunilla
Lovely athletic bee post.
ReplyDeleteThe boy in/not in the balloon is as I write being talked about on our morning news.
I look forward to your GBBD
Glad you managed those vaccinations. Take care! and see you soon.
ReplyDeleteH1N1, a ittle boy floating away in a balloon.....always something to make me worry. Better for me not to watch/read the news so often. Glad your son's fever went away and thankful the little boy wasn't in the balloon and very happy that you've continued blogging.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Jan, love your blooms. That one with the bee is outstanding.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got your H1N1 shot, Ft.Eustis is out of the regular flu shot, so I am washing my hands.....a lot.
Janet, We always get our flu shots at the 'minute clinic' at CVS. It's fast and easy. They always have it before the doctors offices do! This swine flu vaccine was given by the Health Department at a shopping center. Some counties had them going in to the schools, but not ours. It was advertised on the school website so I took advantage of it the first day it was available. It will be chaotic getting it for some time, I'm afraid. I'm glad that's over for me;-) Good luck with yours!
ReplyDeleteI am glad your son is feeling better. There is nothing worse than worrying about your children!
ReplyDeleteThat balloon saga happened in my neck of the woods. What a crazy story!
Love that divinde pink bloom with the bee/wasp.

I saw a little bit of the "balloon boy" saga. It appears there may be a bot of controversy now though. My kids have had their regular flu shots but not the H1N1 yet. It isn't available yet everywhere here. We'd rather wait on the shot than the nasal spray.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing all your blooms, Jan! I'm almost ashamed to say I stayed in my pajamas yesterday morning till after 10:30 AM so I could finish my Bloom Day post:) I missed all the drama about the "balloon boy" yesterday, but heard about it on the radio this morning. Now they're saying it may have all been a publicity stunt!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! I was glued to the TV until that child was found. Enjoyed your post.
ReplyDeleteGlad that your son is okay and that you got the new shots. You both have been through so much health wise lately that we do not ant you to get any flu bugs.
ReplyDeleteWasn't that balloon trick awful. I saw this morning that the kid let it out on Larry Kings that it was for a show. They should have to pay for all of the airport and emergency people that frantically tried to help them. How stupid are they to trick people like that ?
Have a great weekend Jan.
simply beautifully captured shots...lovely!
ReplyDeleteI know that whole balloon thing was obviously a publicity stunt - his Dad seems to love being in the limelight and has been reality shows a few times. Glad to hear your son doesn't have anything serious. It's so good you both got your shots. I haven't gotten the seasonal or the H1N1 shot yet but I intend to get both. -Jackie
ReplyDeleteSo glad your son is ok, back to school is awful for runny noses and coughs, we all have them here too.
ReplyDeleteI was also stuck on the balloon saga, and think the family should absolutely pay, and is negligent for having such a thing around young children.
Beautiful pictures, by the way. :)
I was forced to endure the balloon thing while trying to see the local radar on the Weather Channel. I had a feeling that the kid wasn't in it & was hiding because he had accidentally loosed it. Now I wonder if the whole thing was a setup.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping we can get the H1N1 shots soon too. My girls have already gotten their regular flu shots.
ReplyDeleteHope your son is better today!!
