I'm not a great photographer so I just kept snapping away while the robins feasted, in hopes of capturing a couple of them with berries between their beaks.
Because they are so quick, it was nearly impossible to just focus in on one at the moment they grabbed a berry. Basically, I guess I just got lucky a few times!
Robins can be seen here year round, so just because they all appear in flocks from time to time doesn't necessarily equate with a 'sign of spring', as the old saying goes.
I would like to think that spring is coming though, because the temperatures are expected to rise in the next week or so.

You did get lucky, there are some very nice shots here. I had a flock of robins in my garden last week when we had snow. There was one small patch of ground that was bare, and they seemed to be taking turns tossing the leaf litter around looking for bugs. They're fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteJan, I love your pictures! They are very dynamic! I think it was only once when I saw a big flock of robins in my garden.
ReplyDeleteAs with other berry-eating birds, the size of the fruit seems out of proportion with the size of its beak.
ReplyDeleteThe robins have been active here as well, so have many other birds. I get the feeling they are not going to let unsettled weather interfere with the bird-things birds gotta do.
ReplyDeleteYou got some wonderful photos Jan. My Savannah holly bushes are covered in lovely red berries right now, but I never see any birds eating them. I never see robins around here at all. Maybe I should put a sign out? LOL/ I envy you all your robins :-)
ReplyDeleteI like these pictures! I'm rotten at taking pictures of birds. I do well with things that don't move, like rocks and pots. What a feast for those hungry birds. :o)
ReplyDeleteHi Jan! I'm visiting GHT today after you left such sweet comments on my new blog! Love your photos and words as always - just popping in to say "Hello!"
