We had 70 degrees this week too, after 18 degrees last week. Crazy. I was breaking up chunks of ice and throwing them into my flower beds when the UPS guys drove up with a delivery. I said, Only in Texas can we throw snowballs in 70-degree weather! Beautiful helleborus niger! I am looking forward to mine blooming next month sometime. Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!!
It's a truth about the weather...if you don't like it today, just wait for tomorrow. Lately, we have all experienced extremes of high and low temps. Funny about throwing ice on your flowerbeds. Hope your H. niger is blooming now, Toni!
Jan, How amazing to have a Christmas rose in bloom for Christmas. My garden is buried under a couple feet of snow, so no blooms here (although the ice on the trees is very pretty). Happy Holidays! -Jean
Thanks Jean, Hope you had a Merry Christmas. The weather looks so cold up your way! It's 10 degrees here today, as I write this reply. The weather is so varied from day to day, week to week...you probably won't see blooms for a while up in Maine! Right now we also have a bit of snow, but only an inch and a half. The Christmas Rose blooms are peeking through...
Simply beautiful. But I can't even imagine 70° weather in December.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carolyn.
