While I'm not sure of the ID of my pink peony bush, I believe that my white one is Festiva Maxima. It is loaded with gorgeous, satin-like buds:

Today I am thankful for peonies, the buds of which are as gorgeous as the blooms!

The white ones with the red edges where the bud is opening are so beautiful just like that! Can't wait until they open.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures make me so anxious to see how it will look when fully open! I agree that the buds themselves are gorgeous enough, especially the white ones!
ReplyDeleteHi Jan
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photos and very envious of the peonies, I only have the big blowsy red ones although they are just about to come out.
I haven't stopped by for a while I find it a bit of a struggle keeping up with blogging at present and haven't even been to Blotanical for weeks. Ah well tomorrows another day.
Jan, Your peony buds are lovely, and you will have beautiful flowers soon. I am growing peonies for the first time this year and am happy to see that all three varieties I planted in the fall now have buds on them (although much tinier buds than yours). -Jean

ReplyDeleteHi Jan~~ Even the buds are gorgeous. Yours are farther along than mine. So lovely they will be when they bloom.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, the flowers of my childhood. I can still remember how fragrant they were when Mama put vases of them on the dining room table prior to taking them to the cemetery last Saturday in May.
ReplyDeleteThey do not thrive here in hot and humid.
Truly beautiful.., one after another with different colour, completing a stretch of rainbow candies... ~bangchik
