Her tiny blue flowers look like the right size for Barbie to plant around her dollhouse!
The seed packet says that Crystal Palace Lobelia grows to just 4 inches in height so I don't think her flowers will get any larger than they are right now. Her dainty blooms cover her continuously until frost! The packet says 'cool summers prolong blooms'. Ooops. Summers here aren't known for being cool. Guess I'd better enjoy her now, cause she may not live to see the frost!
Anyway, isn't she pretty?
--Today I am thankful for Lobelia grown from seed.
Hooray for loebelia! :) The largest winter-sown seedling I have is a centaurea, but it's not blooming.
ReplyDeleteI like Lobelia - who can resist a blue flower! They create a nice frothy effect and are very popular in hanging baskets over here.
ReplyDeleteOh good, I can use comments again! Love your lovely lobelia! She's so sweet!

I've been out in the garden all the time, too. I've had enough of the indoors!
Jan,I love lobelia. I have blue and pink ones growing from seeds. When they slowed there blooming last summer I pinched mine back and they took off again.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! How nice to get to see it in bloom already!
ReplyDeleteThe blooms look like a little violet. I planted lobelia too, but mine are still teeny tiny little plants. Thankfully they didn't die while I was gone.
ReplyDeleteJan,
ReplyDeleteWe have a wild little blue lobelia like that along the driveway. It is so small you have to look for it. As with every lobelia I have seen they do attract butterflies very well.
I love the electric blue of Lobelia. It's pretty much a spring/ fall plant here in NC. Beautiful little collage.
ReplyDeleteLobelia is such a pretty little bloomer. I love using it in containers. It is just the right size for a Barbie garden. :)
ReplyDeleteJan -- She's just adorable, and so delicate. Enjoy her now -- it was 94 here today. Yes, that's not a typo -- 94. In APRIL!
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable! An early gift of spring blooms!
ReplyDeleteShe must be a cool sight during hot summers! She's a pretty woman who can steal a man's heart!
ReplyDeleteLobelia is so pretty!

Very pretty blooms and the blue is beautiful. Your header photo is amazing!
ReplyDeleteJan, thank you for following my blog...very happy to see your photo on my list!
Such a wonderful shade of blue and a delicate flower.

I love the electric blue of these little flowers in containers, but for some reason I can never keep them all summer. Maybe it's the hot and humid days here that get to them.
ReplyDeleteI just read your post about your success with seed planting. Wow! I am so impressed. My experiment hasn't been quite so successful, but I started many of my seeds later, so I'm hoping to see some successes yet.
Yes, she is adorable. So diminutive and feminine and yet I'm sure very strong.

She is a pretty one! Love the color!
ReplyDeleteHi Jan, thanks for stopping by, sorry I haven't visited you in a while either! I have been really lagging here in blogland. Love your seedlings and the lobelia is great - wonder why it's blooming indoors already? You must have great light! :) Hope you enjoy it a lot this summer, my mom always raises some and gives them to me, they are such classics for the front of a flower bed.
ReplyDeleteLobelia = summer is just around the corner
ReplyDelete:)

What pretty blues Jan. I've never met a blue bloom I didn't love! Kudos for growing them from seed.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and one of my favorite container plants.
ReplyDeleteI love lobelia, especially in hanging baskets. The header with the tulips is very nice. Thanks again for letting me know about the typo I made. I really appreciate that.
ReplyDeleteI love blue flowers, and the Lobelia is just adorable.
ReplyDeleteNice small flowers:-)
ReplyDeleteI liked the name on your blog. And I agree, it is important to focus on the positive things in life.
Lobelia is about the only annual that has the electric blue... once we pass Spring's Siberian Squill, Grape Hyacinth, etc. They're fun! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love that blue!! Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteVery sweet blue flower. Good choice for the garden!!
ReplyDeleteJan,
ReplyDeleteI'm smitten with lobelia blue.
Donna
She deserves that exclamation point! What a gal!
ReplyDeleteI love Lobelia, but sadly Lobelia does not love my sunny, hot yard. One day, maybe I'll find a shady spot for her. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful little flower and her blue is perfect! gail
ReplyDeleteJan- hope you are well. stop by my blog and see what I have for you. :)
ReplyDeleteThat shade of blue is almost too pretty to look at!
