The Northern Flicker visits year-round here, but has been coming by regularly since the temperatures have dropped. This one is chowing down on snow! I had not had a chance to refill the frozen birdbath water so apparently he was taking matters into his own
I loved watching the snow fly into the air as the bird took bites ;)
They can often be spotted on trees in my yard, listening and pecking away for a meal of bugs...
I love the yellow feathers on the tail...
