Not 'THE' Best

I cannot accept the 2009 Blotanical award for 'Best Virginia Blog'...

...without saying at the outset that I truly believe ALL of the VA blogs nominated (and many that were not!) are deserving of this award. It's not possible to choose just 1!

But in keeping with the tradition of the Blotanical awards (now in it's 2nd year), I cannot turn this away and give it to someone else (Janet, The Queen of Seaford;  Racquel, Perennial Garden Lover;  Les, A Tidewater Gardener, or Catherine, Gotta Garden). It would be just plain rude of me to do something like that, don't you agree?!

I honestly feel no more worthy of this honor than anyone else, but having received (what I'm sure were) just a couple more votes than the others, it is just good manners to say that I DO (humbly) accept this award and am sending sincere thanks to all of you who put in a vote for my blog, 'Thanks For 2 Day'. I have placed it  on a  separate page and feel completely honored by you guys;-)

Today I want to say, thank you to my  Blotanical friends! And to Stuart Robinson, Blotanical's founder, thanks for your wonderful garden blogging community!

Words and photos by Jan Huston DobleThanks For 2 Day.

  1. Well said Jan but you certainly deserved the award.

I would like to add my thanks to Stuart for Blotanical and the opportunity to meet so many interesting boggers and blogs.

  2. A very big congrats to you Jan, have loved reading your blog since I first 'came onboard'.

  3. Jan - warmest congratulations, so well deserved :)

And so many thanks are due for your lovely card and gifts. I'm saving the bath salts for one of those really dreary winter nights when the maximum amount of cheering up is needed.

As you said in your letter - September is indeed a good one this year :)

  6. Lovely speech, something I am not good at... yea, Blotanical allows interactions and connects gardeners all over to share, appreciate and learn about gardening and its creativity.

    Congrats...

  10. Jan, dear, I feel the same way about the Indiana award. I'm honored but feel so awkward. I haven't even decided if I will acknowledge it on my blog or not. I don't want to be rude, but I also know I don't even compare with Carol of May Dreams.

I do want to congratulate you on your award, awkward or not!

  27. I felt the same way. Being nominated was good enough for me. All the NY nominations deserved the win.

But better than any award is knowing you added me to your Google Reader.

  31. Warm congratulations on your nomination and award Jan!

I enjoyed seeing how you expressed yourself on this. I think we're all winners in the wonderful connections we've been able to make with each other, whether nominated, awarded, or not. Not being much of a competitor, it's kind of a wierd feeling being called 'best.' I'm not really even sure what that means or how it can be quantified.

It is nice to be honored and recognized though, so again, Congratulations to you!

  32. I've been so preoccupied with family and all of Charm's health issues and gardening that I think I must have missed something on Blotanical? I am out of the loop!

So... sounds like congratulations to you for an award!

  42. Hi Jan, I am so scatterbrained, that I had to look to see if I'd left a comment on this post or not.

Congratulations! You have an awesome blog! I hope you are continuing to heal. Have you and your son had your appointment with the specialist? I should check your other posts to see if you mentioned it.

Thanks for your nice comment on my post about the award.

  43. Sue: I really enjoyed your last 2 comments...which I just published (or 'thought' I'd published)...but they aren't here now. I got a message that the comment moderation isn't working properly...so now I think they're gone forever! How disappointing and frustrating. To answer your question: I use Picasa for my photo editing and publishing.
